Great question! As a San Diego wedding photographer with 13 years of experience, I work with both digital and film, and each has its own magic.
Digital photography captures images on electronic sensors. It's incredibly versatile - I can shoot hundreds of photos, review them instantly, and adjust settings on the fly. Digital gives me flexibility during your wedding day and allows for faster delivery of your gallery. The image quality is crisp, colors are vibrant, and I can easily adapt to changing lighting conditions.
Film photography captures images on actual film emulsion. It has this gorgeous, timeless quality that's hard to replicate. Film tends to have softer highlights, richer skin tones, and that dreamy, romantic feel you see in vintage photos. Each shot is intentional since I can't see the result immediately.
For weddings, I often use a hybrid approach. Digital ensures I capture every important moment reliably. Film adds those extra-special artistic shots with unmatched depth and character.
The choice really depends on your style preferences. Love that classic, romantic film aesthetic? We can incorporate more film shots. Want crisp, vibrant images with quick turnaround? Digital might be your preference.
During our consultation, I'll show you examples of both styles so you can see which speaks to your heart. Many couples love mixing both for variety in their wedding gallery.

We can shoot at up to two different locations within a 30 minute drive of each other in San Diego County. Yes, this means you can have both engagement photos at Balboa Park and the beach. Want something out in the deserts or high up in the hills near Julian? We can do that too!
