A Candid frame

I’ve always held a preference for an interesting candid image, over an overly posed, perfect one. I knew, once I started shooting weddings, that I wanted the candids to be a strong focal point of my overall approach.

I love the image above that I snapped of the couple while we were walking toward their cocktail reception, after we finished up a quick round of photographs with just them two. Even then, this one resonated and looking back now I think it did a lot to set the tone for how I would come to shoot weddings moving forward.
Since then, I’ve gotten a lot better about keeping my cameras up and sneaky about making myself “small” to capture as many part of the wedding as candidly as I can. I’ve loved so many of the images I’ve captured over the years.
